Dahi brings together Kendrick Lamar and Amber Mark for “How To Pray,” one of the standout moments from his new album Black Boy (Alternative).
The song takes a more emotional and reflective approach, with Dahi building the record around smooth rhythms and beautiful guitar work. Rather than relying on heavy production, the instrumental gives both vocalists plenty of space to make an impact.
Kendrick delivers a noticeably restrained performance, allowing a more vulnerable side of the rapper to come through. Amber Mark adds another layer with her soulful vocals, and the harmonies between the two artists help give the record its emotional weight.
“How To Pray” is a strong example of how Dahi’s production can bring different artists together without overwhelming their performances. It’s a beautiful collaboration and one of the tracks from Black Boy (Alternative) that deserves a close listen.
