The Atlanta icon gets personal with two revealing tracks from his October release, “Episodes”
Gucci Mane is known for his influence, his prolific discography, and the larger-than-life persona that helped shape modern trap music. But with the release of his new dual singles — “Voices” and “Psycho” — the Atlanta rap legend is showing fans a deeper side as he gears up for his most personal project to date.
Both singles will appear on Gucci’s upcoming album, Episodes, set to drop October 17, the same day as the release of his new book of the same name. Unlike past records filled with party anthems and street bravado, this project promises to highlight Gucci’s internal battles, mental health journey, and the cost of fame.
On “Voices,” Gucci reflects on the mental noise and isolation he’s faced throughout his rise. His verses are raw, unfiltered, and full of pain, offering insight into moments often hidden behind the flash. Meanwhile, “Psycho” dives into the stigma surrounding therapy and trauma in Black communities, as he wrestles with labels that have followed him since early in his career.
“I used to rap to survive,” Gucci Mane shared in a recent interview. “Now I rap to heal. These songs ain’t just bars — they’re parts of me I never talked about.”
The dual rollout of both an album and a memoir marks a new chapter for the 1017 Records founder. Episodes the book will detail the untold moments of his life — including addiction, incarceration, grief, and the ongoing process of self-growth.
This pivot comes at a time when more hip-hop artists are shedding light on mental health, breaking long-held taboos about emotional vulnerability in the genre. For Gucci, who once symbolized unchecked excess, the transformation is striking and powerful.
Despite the serious themes, “Voices” and “Psycho” still carry the polished production and lyrical sharpness fans expect. But this time, the stories feel more urgent — like they needed to be told, not just performed.
With Episodes, Gucci Mane isn’t just adding another project to his catalog — he’s offering a message. It’s a reflection, a warning, and a testament to how far he’s come.
The singles are now available on all major streaming platforms. The full album and book release arrives October 17.
