The underground favorite gears up for his next album with a grounded and lyrical new single.
Homeboy Sandman returns with another thoughtful and tightly-wound track, “Not A Killer,” produced by UK beatsmith Sonnyjim. The single is the second offering from their upcoming collaborative album Soli Deo Gloria, set to release July 24.
Building on the introspective vibe of “Sound And Fury,” this latest cut features warm, sample-driven production and Homeboy Sandman’s signature blend of sharp wit, poetic honesty, and head-nodding flow. “Not A Killer” is both a statement of identity and a reminder of what makes Sandman a standout — he doesn’t rely on violence to get his point across. His pen does all the damage.
Sonnyjim’s beat brings soul and grit in equal measure, creating the perfect backdrop for the Queens MC’s lyrical craftsmanship. If these first two singles are any indication, Soli Deo Gloria is shaping up to be one of the most grounded and rewarding underground hip-hop releases of the summer.
“Not A Killer” is out now on all streaming platforms.
