The Southern rap legend and Bay Area producer team up for a laid-back, liquor-laced lead single from “The Tonite Show.”
Houston icon Paul Wall returns with a new groove, teaming up with veteran producer DJ.Fresh for their upcoming collaborative album The Tonite Show, dropping this July. To kick things off, the duo just released the project’s lead single, “Blantons Tonite,” a relaxed and reflective track soaked in Southern flavor and late-night vibes.
Known for his slowed-down flow and signature Southern drawl, Paul Wall first broke into the mainstream in the early 2000s with hit records and standout features — including a collaboration with Kanye West. Now, decades into his career, he proves he hasn’t lost a step.
“Blantons Tonite” brings that signature cool back into focus, pairing DJ.Fresh’s silky, jazz-tinged production with Paul’s classic storytelling. The title nods to Blanton’s, a premium bourbon whiskey, setting the tone for a record built on smooth delivery and grown-man energy.
This release continues The Tonite Show series, DJ.Fresh’s long-running collaboration album format, which has previously featured artists like Mozzy, Curren$y, and Freddie Gibbs. Paul Wall’s installment is already shaping up to be a standout entry, blending Texas soul with West Coast class.
As anticipation builds for the full album, “Blantons Tonite” offers a laid-back but confident preview of what’s to come — a testament to Paul Wall’s staying power and DJ.Fresh’s ability to elevate every artist he works with.
The single is now streaming on all major platforms. The Tonite Show with Paul Wall drops in July.
