In what is easily the most emotional release of 2026 so far, Thundercat has officially shared “She Knows Too Much,” a long awaited collaboration with his late, close friend Mac Miller. Released on February 17, 2026, the track serves as the final single before Thundercat’s fifth studio album, “Distracted,” arrives on April 3 via Brainfeeder. Originally conceptualized in Miller’s home studio years ago, the song was completed with the blessing of the Mac Miller Estate and the help of producer Greg Kurstin, who polished the unfinished demo into a shimmering piece of “space funk” history.
“She Knows Too Much” is a vibrant display of the “warm synergy” between the two artists. Built over Thundercat’s sturdy, melodic basslines and bright, funk infused synth pads, the song features Mac Miller taking the lead with a carefree, assured delivery. The lyrics explore the dynamic of a woman whose intellect and intuition (“beauty and brains”) keep her two steps ahead of her suitors. Mac acts as a charismatic wingman throughout, trading playful verses and ad libs with Thundercat’s wispy falsetto. The release is accompanied by a dreamlike music video directed by Léa Esmaili, which uses surreal animation to pay tribute to their legendary friendship.
As the centerpiece of the upcoming “Distracted” album (which also features A$AP Rocky, Tame Impala, and WILLOW), this track is a “one man rat pack” tribute to Mac’s enduring legacy. For Thundercat, the song is a way to share one last “garage session” with the world, proving that their creative bond remains as electric as ever.
